The Piper Meridian is being upgraded to a three-screen glass cockpit system developed by Avidyne. The Entegra integrated glass cockpit will be a standard feature for the Meridian. The Entegra system includes two EXP5000 primary flight displays and EX5000 multifunction display.
New Piper chief executive Charles Suma says the company is also adding an optional safety feature for the Piper 6X/6XT and Saratoga II HP/TC aircraft families. The option is called the Piper Inadvertent Icing System, which sells as a $28,500 add-on.
New Piper is emerging out of recovery mode following two hurricanes in 2004 that devastated the company's Florida-based production plant.
