General Dynamics Canada (GDC) and Spanish company Indra have joined the Transatlantic Industrial Proposed Solution (TIPS) alliance, which is pitching for the contract to provide NATO with an alliance ground surveillance (AGS) system by 2010.
GDC and Indra will bring additional expertise to the group of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance companies and promote its image as a transatlantic initiative.
Proposal
Existing members include EADS, Galileo Avionica, Northrop Grumman and Thales, and the TIPS proposal accommodates a mixed fleet of manned mid-size and unmanned aircraft.
GDC is the largest systems integrator in Canada, serving armed forces in more than 20 countries while Indra is Spain's leading IT company with an active presence in the international defence market.
More than 25 members of the TIPS industrial working group met yesterday to discuss elements of the upcoming study phase of the programme.
