Airbus has taken delivery of the first Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine for the in-development A350-1000.
The powerplant will be installed on the airframer's A380 "flying testbed", MSN 001, for in-flight trials in the "near future", Airbus says.
It was delivered to the airframer's Toulouse headquarters from UTC Aerospace Systems' nearby nacelle installation facility.
US-headquartered UTC supplies the nacelle and thrust reverser for the Trent XWB engine series.
The Trent XWB is the sole engine type available for the A350.
