Turkey’s national airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) programme made a significant advance early this month, with the delivery to Tusas Aerospace Industries of the first of three Boeing 737-700s to undergo modification in Turkey. Meanwhile, the programme’s first aircraft has had its Northrop Grumman-supplied Mesa radar installed at Boeing’s Seattle plant in the USA. Ankara will receive its four AEW&C aircraft by late 2008.
