Orlando, Florida-based low-fares carrier AirTran Airways is making no comment about reports that it is in talks with Trans World Airlines about a possible buy-out. AirTran - the former ValuJet - says only that it is committed to expansion through internal growth, but "from time-to-time has held conversations with other airlines". AirTran has performed a financial turnaround, posting give consecutive profitable quarters, while TWA lost $155 million in 1999.
