A pressure group comprising five UK local authorities has succeeded in its bid to delay UK government proposals for an expansion at London Stansted airport. The UK High Court ruled late last week that the proposals for Stansted, included in the government's long-term transport plan, were too descriptive and lacked consultation. Airport operator BAA says the judgement does not halt the expansion plan, adding that the ruling found the government's assessment of the need for a second runway sound.
