The UK Ministry of Defence has invited four bidders to contest a requirement to provide in-service support for its future BAE Systems Hawk 128 advanced jet trainers, launching the latest battle in its Military Flying Training System programme.
BAE, Kellogg Brown & Root and VT Aerospace of the UK and Canada's Bombardier Military Aviation Training late last month received invitations to tender for the project, which could value up to £100 million ($195 million) until March 2014, and include options to extend the work by up to a further five years.
The successful bidder must ensure the availability of an agreed number of serviceable aircraft at Royal Air Force Valley in north Wales, with 28 Hawk 128s to be delivered from August 2008.
