Airbus’s newly-disclosed order for 45 A320-family aircraft, attributed to unidentified customers, includes 28 re-engined models.
The order features seven A321neo and 21 A320neo jets.
Analysis of the Airbus figures also shows that the remaining 17 aircraft are baseline A320s.
No engine details have been given for the 45 aircraft and the airframer has not clarified whether all of the jets are bound for the same customer.
But it states that all the aircraft were covered by orders signed on the same date, 15 July, in the week of the Farnborough air show.
Airbus’s figures to the end of July 2014 reveal that Qantas cancelled five A320s from an order placed in October 2011.
AirAsia and the LATAM group also respectively cancelled 23 and 16 A320s, in order to convert them to A320neos. While AirAsia took 23 A320neos under the conversion arrangement, LATAM only picked up 12.
