United Airlines has asked for competitive bids from its six United Express feeders on routes operated by Air Wisconsin, seeking to cut costs on the only regional contract it has not yet renegotiated in bankruptcy. United submitted requests for proposals to 10 regional airline companies, including Air Wisconsin, as well as all of its other existing partners. The renegotiation comes as United has asked for still more union wage cuts and further time for bankruptcy court protection. The airline wants to eliminate pension plans and replace them with less-generous arrangements.
