United has placed major orders with both leading manufacturers. The carrier has ordered 19 B747-400s, two B777s and six B757s from Boeing in a deal worth $3.5 billion, and became the first US customer for the Airbus A319 with a US$900 million 24 aircraft order.
Airbus has also sold 18 A321s to South Korean operator Asiana, currently an all-Boeing operator.
