Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is to discontinue its commercial airline pilot training programme.

The 12-14 month course is aimed at people who already have degrees and jobs, but are seeking a career change.

The Florida-based university, which has around 2,000 students across all its pilot training programmes, will complete all training for currently-enrolled students over the next year.

It said the programme did not fit into its strategic plans for the future.
