Northrop Grumman has flown a E-2C Hawkeye airborne-early-warning aircraft fitted with an upgraded mission computer for the first time. The aircraft, which was flown on 24 January, is fitted with the Raytheon Model 940 mission computer. Fitment of the upgraded computer is the first step in a series of planned improvements leading to the Hawkeye 2000 variant. Projected upgrades include a co-operative engagement capability.
