Aircraft Interiors Expo is launching a new Americas show, which will take place from September 9-11, 2008 at Long Beach Convention Centre in California. Aircraft Interiors Americas Expo will run every other year, alternating with Aircraft Interiors Expo Asia.
The major OEMs are backing the event, aimed at the world’s largest single-aisle market. US airlines are rapidly shifting capacity to international routes and updating aircraft, which have not been revamped in many cases since pre-2001. The new ‘Open Skies’ agreement in 2008 will also allow US airlines greater freedom to fly to and within Europe meaning that they will increase fleet sizes and the number of routes flown.
James Reader, group exhibition director, Reed Exhibitions, says: “We want to cater for the changing US market. In many cases there has been almost no investment in cabins since 2001 and now we are seeing many US majors, such as American Airlines, Delta, Northwest and United Airlines upgrading their products. We want to take the new show there to keep up with the changing marketplace. Our aircraft expo in Hamburg is more of a supply chain event and so busy that everyone involved has so little time for content. The Americas show will be a forum to discuss future concepts for cabin interiors.”
He continues: “This is our third expo in Hong Kong and we believe it is bigger and better than ever before. We are looking forward to this year’s show and to welcoming our exhibitors and visitors back in two years’ time.”
