US no-frills start-up Skybus Airlines is planning to introduce nonstop service from its Columbus, Ohio base to three new destinations.

The Airbus A319 operator, which last week inaugurated its first flight, says that on July 16 it will add nonstops to Westover Metropolitan Airport in Chicopee, Massachusetts. This will serve the Hartford, Connecticut/Springfield, Massachusetts area.

Also on July 16, new service linking Columbus with San Diego will be introduced.

This will be followed two days later with the launch of flights to St Augustine Airport in St Augustine, Florida.

“Demand for tickets to our original eight destinations has exceeded all of our expectations,” says Skybus CEO Bill Diffenderffer in a statement. “As additional aircraft are added to our fleet throughout the year, we will announce both new destinations and additional service to our existing destination markets.”

The carrier also says that a second daily nonstop flight will be added to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on July 16.
