The US Air Force has awarded Boeing an $800 million contract to provide up to seven additional C-40 aircraft, military versions of the Boeing Business Jet, and up to 10 years of C-40 support services.

The deal allows for the incorporation of contractor logistics support for the USAF's four C-32As into the contract. The C-32A is a modified Boeing 757-200 which the USAF bought in 1998 to replace its obsolete fleet of C-137B/Cs.

Acquisition of the additional C-40s, which will be leased or purchased outright, is part of the USAF's ongoing effort to modernise its fleet of large transports for senior level US military commanders, US government officials and legislators.
