Motor Sich is showcasing its turbofan engine, designed for the Be-200 amphibian aircraft.
First shown in Moscow in 1997 and still undergoing flight tests, the D-436TP is unique, says the company, in the short and medium-haul market for which it is intended.
Major advantages are low fuel consumption and weight-to-thrust ratio; high reliability; low noise and emission levels; ease of maintenance, efficient monitoring and diagnostic system; and steady operation in sudden airflow temperature inversions at the engine inlet, such as when fighting forest fires.
A general-purpose engine mount means it can be installed in different aircraft and configurations without changing the engine design. Also new and in the same family are the fuel-efficient D-436T1 and D-436T2, suitable for the Tupolev Tu-334-100, Tu-334-200, Tu-134M, Tu-230.
There is also potential, says Sich, for installing the engines in makes such as BAe146, Airbus A319, Boeing 727/737, DC-9, MD-80 and others.
