A Saudi Arabian customer has ordered the first VIP-configured Airbus A340-600. The aircraft will be operated by Jeddah-based National Air Services, which already operates VIP A320-family aircraft. Delivery of the “green” A340-600 is planned for late 2006. A completion centre has yet to be selected.
“There is a need for larger VIP aircraft,” says Airbus vice-president private and executive aviation Richard Gaona.

Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is ordering another five Boeing 777Fs, doubling its outstanding orders for the freighter model.
Airbus is estimating demand for 42,430 new aircraft deliveries over the next two decades, with a higher proportion – some 44%, compared with last year’s 42% – set to serve as replacements.
Indian budget carrier IndiGo has firmed its order for 30 Airbus A350-900s, while an undisclosed customer has agreed to take a single A350 plus 36 A321neos.
