Volga-Dnepr Technics (VDT) has opened a line maintenance station at Frankfurt International airport and plans to support narrowbody aircraft there.
The MRO division of Russian cargo specialist Volga-Dnepr Group will initially be used to service the General Electric CF6-powered Boeing 747-400 Freighters operated by group subsidiary AirBridge Cargo.
But VDT says that it wants to expand its capabilities to the GEnx-2B-powered 747-8 as well as aircraft "with higher market demand", such as the 737 and A320.
Frankfurt will be VDT's second German location after Leipzig.
Aside from providing line maintenance, the station in Frankfurt will lease out ground support equipment and sell consumables.
