Panasonic Avionics has supplied its over-head digital multiplexed passenger entertainment system (DMPES) for retrofit to Mexicana Airlines' single-aisle fleet, the company confirmed today at the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) conference and exhibition in Palm Springs, California.
Mexicana has installed the DMPES in-flight entertainment (IFEC) system on 39 Airbus A318, A319 and A320 aircraft, says the manufacturer in a statement.
Business class passengers on Mexicana's single-aisle aircraft are offered Panasonic's personal media player (PMP) portable devices, which are preloaded with hours of rentable content for on-demand playback.
Mexicana has also taken delivery of two A330s equipped with Panasonic's eX2 in-seat platform.
"Panasonic is extending its relationship with Mexicana Airlines by providing system configuration options so it can offer business and economy class differentiation," says Panasonic Avionics CEO Paul Margis.
