New Zealand's Wellington Airport's earnings rose 2% in the fiscal half-year ended 30 September despite a fall in passenger traffic.
The airport contributed NZ$32.7 million ($23.5 million) to its parent company Infratil's earnings, up from NZ$32.2 million in the period last year, says the group.
Domestic passenger numbers fell 6% to 2.2 million from a year ago, while international passenger numbers grew 2% to 290,273.
"Higher passenger services income and lower operating costs more than offset lower aeronautical revenue," says Infratil.
It projects that the airport will have about 5.1 million passengers in total this year, and earnings of NZ$66 million, it adds.
