International Lease Finance has placed the first Western airliner with a Belarussian airline, with the delivery of an ex-Continental Airlines Boeing 737-500 to flag carrier Belavia. The aircraft has been acquired on a five-year lease, and arrived recently following painting by Lufthansa Aircraft Painting at Shannon. According to Belavia general director Anatoly Gusarov, the aircraft will operate international services from its Minsk base to Frankfurt, Larnaca, London, Moscow, Paris, Rome, and Tel Aviv. The aircraft will be joined by two more 737s next year.
