Delta Air Lines' Technical Operations division has been selected by Boeing Business Jets as the primary aircraft heavy maintenance services provider for its Boeing NetJets (BNJ) fleet. General Electric Engine Services will provide primary engine maintenance services, while Delta will also provide selected engine maintenance services for the BNJ fleet. Royal Jordanian Airlines has contracted to SAS Component the maintenance of the thrust reversers on the General Electric CF6-80s that power its Airbus A310s. Mesaba Airlines has concluded a five-year repair and overhaul contract with Lucas Aerospace, covering electrical generating systems installed on the Northwest Airlink carrier's Saab 340 turboprops. The deal is worth $3 million and follows similar contracts reached with United Express carriers Atlantic Coast Airlines and Trans State Airlines to support Jetstream 32/41 turboprops and Embraer RJ-145 regional jets. Mesaba will pay for anticipated repairs and overhauls on a cost per flight basis. BWIA International Airways has contracted California-based Castle Precision Industries to overhaul landing gear on its four Lockheed L-1011 TriStars, following Castle's licensing by the airframer. Kitty Hawk has placed orders with FedEx Aviation Services for eight of its heavyweight Boeing 727-200Adv Stage 3 hushkit shipsets, taking the airline's kit orders to 28. Air Botnia has contracted Sweden's Celsius Aviocomp to undertake component maintenance on six Fokker F28 Mk4000s it recently acquired from SAS. The first passenger to freighter DC-10/MD-10 conversion undertaken for FedEx at the Boeing Aerospace Support Center in San Antonio, Texas, has been completed. The engineering team at the former US Air Force Air Logistics Center at Kelly AFB is also preparing to begin work on the first of two MD-11 passenger to freighter conversions for Korean Air Lines.
