Polar Air Cargo has signed an agreement with Singapore Airlines (SIA) Engineering covering heavy maintenance work for its Boeing 747-100/200 freighters. Sabena Technics and Triumph Air Repair have signed a memorandum of understanding covering partnership on maintenance of auxiliary power units, integrated drive generators and constant speed drives, ATEC 6000 test equipment and landing gear on most current Airbus and Boeing types. Snecma Sabena Engine Services has signed an exclusive three-year contract with Virgin Express covering maintenance of all the airline's CFM56 engines. Sabena Technics has signed several new contracts: the first, with Germany's Eurowings, covers component maintenance for the airline's 10 BAe 146s. Oman Air has signed a one-year contract, covering full support of two Pratt & Whitney PW4000-powered Airbus A310-300s. The Dubai Air Wing's contract is for maintenance of Dubai Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules, while CityBird of Belgium has signed a contract for full support of its two Boeing 737-400s. The contract covers line, light and component maintenance. Joint venture company Snecma-Sabena will be responsible for the maintenance of the CFM56-3 engines. Flight International's sister on-line service Air Transport Intelligence reports that GE Engine Services has appointed Bearing Inspection (BI) to be its primary provider of repair and overhaul services for main line and accessory bearings used in commercial jet engines and related components. BI will provide inspection and refurbishment of main and accessory bearings for the Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, General Electric and CFM International turbofans. American Aircarriers Support has formed AAS Aircraft Services to perform maintenance and modification services. The company will occupy hangars at the former Norton AFB in California.
