Alitalia has contracted with Boeing to convert three MD-11 Combis to full freight configuration. The work will be carried out by Aeronavali at its Naples and Venice bases, beginning in October. The aircraft will replace two Boeing 747-200Fs. Messier Services UK has been selected by British Mediterranean Airways (BMed) to undertake landing- gear overhaul and repair services on its Airbus A321 fleet. Air Moldova has selected EADS Sogerma Services to provide maintenance support for the A320 it acquired in September. Alaska Airlines has selected aviation aftermarket support specialist AAR to provide heavy maintenance services for its Boeing MD-80 aircraft. The five-year exclusive contract extends an original one-year support agreement awarded to AAR in 2002. Under the terms of the new agreement, AAR's Oklahoma-based Aircraft Services division will perform heavy maintenance functions on select Alaska MD-80s.
