Nigeria-based Allied Air has contracted World Airways to operate a single Boeing MD-11F aircraft from Ostend to Lagos, and continuing to Nairobi.

The aircraft will then return to Ostend three-to-four times per week. World Airways plans to launch the service 1 October.

Allied Air operates four Boeing 727 freighters, working in conjunction with its worldwide sales agent ANA Aviation Services to supply scheduled flights and ad hoc charters.

World's agreement with Allied Air follows a deal it reached with Air France earlier this month to operate a MD-11F from France to destinations in North Africa and a weekly flight to Brazil.

In April of this year World's parent company experienced a top management reshuffle after former CEO Subodh Karnick resigned abruptly. Robert Binns was named as his replacement. Global's airline subsidiary ATA filed for Chapter 11 and ceased operations that same month.
