Two Boeing X-45As staged a co-ordinated assault on mock targets during the last and most complex of 60 flights for the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency’s Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems (J-UCAS) programme. The US Air Force assumes control over J-UCAS on 1 October, but has yet to reveal plans for restructuring the programme after it sustained a $1 billion cut. The current schedule calls for an operational assessment using three X-45Cs and three Northrop Grumman X-47Bs after 2007.
