Xian Aircraft has completed the final assembly of the first centre wing box for the Comac C919 programme.
The completion of the centre wing box is key to whether the mid fuselage can be delivered to Comac in time, says the Chinese manufacturer.
The structure is made from aluminium, after Comac abandoned plans for a composite wing box to prevent further complications and delays to the indigenous narrowbody programme.
Comac is working towards an end 2015 maiden flight for the C919.
