Two Asian airlines have signed agreements with US engine parts and repairs firm Chromalloy.
Air India awarded the company a $10 million two-year contract for the repair of parts on its CFM International CF6-80C2, P&W PW4000, CFM International CFM56-7B engines as well as some auxiliary power units, says Chromalloy.
"Air India is extremely pleased with the continuous support provided by Chromalloy for more than 15 years. Advanced repairs from Chromalloy have been very useful in reducing engine management costs for Air India," says the carrier's director of marketing Sanjeev Rotkar.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has also signed an agreement with Chromalloy to supply the carrier high pressure turbine blades and component repairs for its engines.
Chromalloy and its joint venture, BELAC, will provide the blades for PIA's CFM56-3 and CF6-80C2 engines and repairs for the carrier's fleet, says Chromalloy's president Armand Lauzon.
They will deliver six sets of blades, and repairs and replacement services on the engines during 2010, says Chromalloy.
