Enstrom Helicopters has supplied the Fresno police department in California with an F28F-P helicopter, expanding its law enforcement fleet to three.

Fresno's airborne unit began life via an unusual, community-wide fundraising effort.

Residents launched a campaign to raise enough money to pay for an initial aircraft, under the name Operation Skywatch.

The first two piston-powered F28F-Ps have now logged a total of 5,000h. During that time they have been used in the investigation of 11,800 incidents and been credited with 1,220 arrests, says Enstrom.
