Airbus forecasts a market for around five "large corporate jets" a year in the Asia-Pacific - the majority of them in greater China. The demand for aircraft seating 15 or more passengers will come from customers seeking to replace existing models, says the European airframer, adding that it expects to secure more than half of this market.

"China's gross domestic product is forecast to grow at more than 8% a year and, because economic growth is the main driver of air travel, this means that there is an important and expanding market for corporate jets in the country, as well as throughout the region," says Airbus. The airframer has already clinched around 25 sales in the Asia-Pacific for its VIP airliners, which include the A318 Elite, Airbus Corporate Jetliner and A320 Prestige.
