The government of Russian Federation republic Sakha-Yakutia is to proceed with Antonov An-140 acquisitions from Aviacor. The republic’s largest carrier Yakutia has already ordered one An-140 and two An-140-100 turboprops, and one Tupolev Tu-154M for delivery by 2006.

Sakha-Yakutia says the republic will receive an additional five An-140-100s in 2006-7 and a “further five later on”. Half of the new acquisitions will be for Yakutia and the rest for smaller carriers. Aviacor chairman Sergei Likharev says the manufacturer has signed an agreement with Financial Lease Company for An-140 delivery support and is negotiating a similar deal with Ilyushin-Finance. Aviacor plans to assemble five An-140s in 2005-6, seven in 2007, six or seven in 2008 and 10 from 2009.
