With three prototypes currently under construction, the first flight of the Antonov An-148 regional jet is set for early 2004, with production aircraft scheduled to be delivered to their launch operators in late 2005 or early 2006.

Powerplant

The high-wing An-148 is a 75-90 seat commercial jet version of the An-72/-74 utility aircraft. It will be powered by the 16,500lb (73kN) ZMKB Progress D-436T powerplant.

Kharkov State Aircraft Manufacturing Company is in discussions with the Voronezh aircraft plant in Russia to produce the An-148, says KSMAC general director Pavel Naumenko.
