Air New Zealand (ANZ) has reported a 3.7% fall in passenger traffic in November.
Total RPKs declined 3.7% from a month ago. Short-haul RPKs fell 3.2% and long-haul RPKs decreased 4.1%, says the Star Alliance carrier.
Short-haul flights include the domestic, Australian and Pacific Island markets. Flights to Asia, North America and Europe are considered long-haul.
In real terms, the total number of passengers carried fell 0.6% to 951,000 from 957,000, says ANZ.
The number of short-haul passengers declined 0.2% to 825,000 from 827,000, while the number of long-haul passengers decreased 3.1% to 126,000 from 130,000.
Total capacity, as measured by ASKs, fell 10.2%, says ANZ. Short-haul ASKs declined 12.5% and long-haul ASKs fell 8.6%, adds the airline.
As a result, the overall passenger load increased 5.4 percentage points to 80.7% from 75.3%, says ANZ.
