- CSA Czech Airlines president and chairman Jaroslav Tvrdik is to step down from his role to focus on a political career.
- JetStar Asia has come under closer Qantas control with the appointment of two senior Qantas executives to its board. Peter Gregg, Qantas chief financial officer, has become chairman and Alan Joyce, who heads JetStar and Australian Airlines, has become a director of the Singapore-based airline.
- Two of Mexico’s low-cost start-ups have named chief executives. Enrique Beltranena, who has been chief operating officer for Grupo TACA in Central America, will head Vuela. TACA is assisting, but Vuela will be an independent airline. Fabricio Cojuc Wolfowitz has also been appointed head of Tijuana-based Avolar, which launched flights in December.
- Jet Airways has appointed Garry Kingshott, an ex-Ansett executive, as chief commercial officer. Chief operating officer Peter Luethi is to leave the fast-growing Indian carrier in April.
Obituary
- Adrian Hunt, formerly the chief executive of Germany’s DBA, died unexpectedly on 23 December of a heart attack. Hunt, a British Airways veteran, launched the former BA subsidiary as a low-fares carrier in 2002.
