Middle Eastern carriers are to study a tentative proposal from the Arab League to create a single Arab carrier that would serve the region's major cities.
While the proposal is still at an early stage, the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) and Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) are seeking initial feedback on the idea.
Speaking during the AACO annual general meeting in Damascus, ACAC director general Mohamad Al Alg said the idea centred on an "internal company connecting all Arab capitals".
There are few details about the potential mechanism for such an airline, but AACO secretary general Abdul Wahab Teffaha says that the organisation has reported preliminary findings back to Arab League representatives.
