Atlas Composites is at Paris celebrating what managing director Shaun Moloney calls “our greatest achievement to date” – a five-year contract with Meggitt Thermal Systems. “Recognition of our capability to manufacture aerospace components from such a prestigious company as Meggitt has lifted Atlas into the premier league,” says Moloney. The UK firm is using the show to lift its profile as an aerospace manufacturer. Moloney says Atlas’s background in motorsport gives it an edge. “Our experience of rapid prototyping means we can get things on the table quicker than other manufacturers.” The Midlands-based company also has a broad customer base in the communications, engineering and defence industries. In the past three years, it has achieved approved supplier accreditation for Lockheed Martin UK, BAE Systems and missile systems company MBDA. Moloney says: “The approved supplier accreditation underpins the company’s planned growth in the aerospace markets; it can help make the business more stable with longer term contracts and more sustainable.”
