BAE Systems Regional Aircraft is to handle spares storage, distribution and support of Fairchild Dornier 328s and 328JETs in the Americas under a six-year contract with Avcraft Aerospace.

BAE will locate about $150 million of spares at its Herndon, Virginia warehouse from this month. Initial spares orders will be processed via Avcraft's global support centre in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, with BAE becoming the direct customer interface after six months.

Spares will be sourced from stock acquired by AvCraft from Texas-based M7 Aerospace as well as AvCraft's own stock.

About 50% of over 200 328s and 328JETs delivered worldwide are based in North America. BAE's Regional Aircraft division already provides spares support for ATR turboprops in North America from its Herndon base.
