Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) saw its first half 2009 net profit jump 88% to 105 million Chinese Yuan ($15 million), up from 56 million in first half of 2008.
For the six months ended 30 June, revenue was 1.5 billion yuan, up from 1.3 billion yuan in the first half of 2008, says BCIA.
The company says that it benefited from the government's macroeconomic stimulus packages, as well as reductions in ticket fares by domestic carriers.
"Domestic air traffic volumes at the Beijing Capital Airport grew substantially and resulted in a double-digit increase in the overall air traffic volumes at the Beijing Capital Airport," says BCIA.
Total passenger throughput rose 18.2% to 31 million in the first half, compared with 26.2 million in the same period in 2008. Total aircraft movements rose 19.1% to 237,933, up from 199,820.
International throughput, however, fell 5.5% to 6.5 million, mainly owing to a weak global economy, says BCIA.
