NASA and University of Colorado scientists have designed and successfully tested a new type of X-ray interferometer telescope that could capture the first images of a black hole and resolve details of stars as clearly as seeing the sun. It is planned for use on two proposed missions to fly after 2010, a precursor flight to test the technology and the fully-fledged Microarcsecond X-ray Imaging Mission.
