Boeing Commercial Airplanes president Scott Carson says that in addition to incorporating the latest fuel-saving and noise-mitigating features in its aircraft, "we must also share our story with the public. There are a lot of erroneous facts held by people. It's not good enough any more just to put the best technology into our products."

He adds that in terms of reducing the aviation industry's carbon footprint, the "lowest-hanging fruit" would be to harmonise the world's fragmented air traffic management systems.
