BLUEWAY ADDITION
Eurocopter has sold a fourth EC225 to Norwegian helicopter services company Blueway. The medium twin-engined aircraft will provide additional airlift capacity for Blueway's burgeoning North Sea oil and gas transport services. The helicopter will be based in Denmark's Esbjerg area, positioning Blueway for additional opportunities in the oil and gas market, the company said.
CANISTERS ECLIPSED
Eclipse Aerospace has received US approval for the newly redesigned canister to be used with the PhostrEx fire-suppression system on the Eclipse 500 very light jet. The new canister - an all-welded design - stores contents at a lower pressure, fully resolving leakage problems experienced by the original design. Eclipse has placed a production order for the new canisters, which are expected to be available for purchase from early August.
EDWARDS STEPS DOWN
Peter Edwards, president of the Jet Aviation group, will leave the company on 31 August after a four years at the helm of the business aviation services provider. During his tenure Edwards oversaw the Jet Aviation's sale and transition to General Dynamics, established new operations in Russia, Brazil and Asia and expanded the company's activities in the Middle East. Joe Lombardo, executive vice-president of General Dynamics Aerospace Group, will assume the role of president in the interim.
OFFSHORE EXPANSION
China Southern Airlines subsidiary Zhuhai Helicopter has ordered a S-76C++ and two S-92 helicopters to support the company's offshore oil customers operating in the South China Sea. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery from September and will join Zhuhai's fleet of 13 S-76s and three S-92s to transport crew to and from the oil platforms.
