OXYGEN EXPANDS

UK air charter broker Oxygen 4 has opened an aircraft sales and management division to complement its brokerage services and has secured an exclusivity agreement with Project Phoenix to sell its VIP Bombardier CRJ200 airliner, dubbed the Phoenix CRJ, in Russia.


FIRST FLIGHT

Sikorsky has successfully completed the first flight of its second S-76D helicopter from its West Palm Beach Florida facility. Certification and first deliveries of the medium twin - for which Sikorsky has secured around 100 "delivery position agreements" - are scheduled for the first half of 2011.


ECLIPSE SIMULATION

Eclipse Aerospace has joined forces with SimCom Training Centers to provide training on simulators that replicate the EA-500 very light jet and Avio integrated avionics glass cockpit, which is to be installed on all 260 EA-500 VLJs.


MIDCOAST STC

Midcoast Aviation has received supplemental type certificate organisation designation authorisation from the US Federal Aviation Administration. The designation enables the company to produce STCs in-house in support of its maintenance, repair, overhaul and completions activities. The new status replaces the company's previous designated alteration station approval and supports the FAA's goal of improving efficiency by allowing a qualified company to perform certain functions.


TRANSPORT OVERSIGHT

Transport Canada is taking back the certification and oversight functions for business aviation from 1 April from the Canadian Business Aviation Association five years after administration and management responsibilities under CAR 604 - the regulation specifically for business aviation - was handed to the agency. The regulatory authority says outsourcing safety monitoring is the core responsibility of government and the department, CBAA, will retain responsibilty for certification of business aviation until 1 April 2011.
