BRITISH AIRWAYS STAFF
One in six personnel are taking voluntary pay cuts -of up to four weeks' unpaid leave, unpaid work or part-time work -potentially saving the carrier £10 million ($16 million). BA sought the cuts following heavy full-year losses, but the total saving is relatively small compared with its £2.2 billion wages bill for 2008-9. Chief executive Willie Walsh says: "This response clearly shows the significant difference individuals can make."
