PILOTS Pinnacle Airlines first officers will get a 20% salary increase. The rise, from a current starting pay in "the low 20s", will put the regional carrier's first officer remuneration higher than at American Eagle, which pays $22,000 a year at the start, and closer to mainline first officer salary rates of around $30,000 a year. Pinnacle operates Bombardier and Saab aircraft for several mainline carriers' regional subsidiaries, including Northwest's Airlink.

AVIC Aviation Industry Corporation of China's efforts to attract senior foreign talent appear to have come to nought, says the state-run China Daily, which reports that the six vice-presidents AVIC has recruited are all Chinese nationals. Seven senior executive positions remain unfilled. New recruits include Li Jian, who becomes VP of the aircraft division; he has been a VP at Guangzhou Automobile since 2002 and was once vice-mayor of Shaoguang city.
