Good week

TONY FERNANDES The AirAsia and F1 magnate can breathe easier after both of his Lotus cars made it to the end of the opening Grand Prix at Bahrain and neither of arch rival Richard Branson's Virgin machines went the distance. The two have bet that whoever is trailing when the season ends in Abu Dhabi will serve as a flight attendant on the other's airline. One race does not a season make, but Fernandes is not worried yet how he will look in Virgin red.

Bad week

Jim McNerney

JIM MCNERNEY The Boeing chairman, president and chief executive had to do three jobs last year and endure a pay cut, of sorts. According to SEC filings, his annual non-shares incentive award plunged from nearly $6.1 million in 2008 to a mere $4.5 million while stock and options awarded were up just 6% to less than $6.3 million. A surge in pension value did take total compensation up 17% to $19.4 million, but let us hope the 787 comes together this year.
