Herring: VP American operations

Doug Herring, chief executive of American Airlines sister company American Beacon Advisors until its recent sale, has been named VP operations, finance and strategic planning for the carrier.

At NASA, David McBride is now deputy director of the Dryden Flight Research Center, replacing Steven Schmidt, recently appointed director of the Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility.

And, Arthur "Gene" Goldman has been promoted to director of the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, replacing Bob Cabana, who has become the director of Kennedy Space Center.

ATR has made former air force pilot and French defence agency programme manager Ivan Lauthier VP training and flight operations, succeeding Jean-Michel Bigarré. Vice Admiral Alan Thompson is now director of the US Defense Logistics Agency. Susan Geitzenauer has joined lessor CIT Aerospace in Minneapolis as VP transactions.

She was most recently at Petters Aviation. Jeppesen boss Mark Van Tine will chair the General Aviation Manufacturers Association for 2009. Honeywell Business and General Aviation president Robert Wilson is to be vice-chairman.
