The design organisation has won European Aviation Safety Agency approval, making it the first group of former regulators to be able to tackle certification problem-solving. The UK-based company, which provides certification guidance for manufacturers in aerospace, has won Design Organisation Approval status after less than a year of operation and will now be able to provide direct approval of minor modifications and repairs without EASA involvement.

 

European airlines,
which are reeling from the latest blow to their hopes for a USA-Europe open skies initiative. The USA has abandoned its plans to allow foreign investors more control over the management of US airlines, and US transportation secretary Mary Peters has admitted that the decision could jeopardise the transatlantic deal. The European Commission is set to hold more talks with the USA in January to explore other possible ways to break the deadlock.
