CANADA'S CAE Electronics has been awarded a C$13.5 million ($10 million) contract to supply simulation systems for the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) Lockheed Martin AP-3C Orion update programme.
The contract is for three integrated subsystems (ISS) which simulate the AP-3C's updated mission systems, including electronic-surveillance, radar and acoustic sensors.
One ISS will be integrated with the AP-3C operational mission-simulator, used for training, while a second will be used within the system-engineering laboratory, for in-service support of the Orion. The simulator and laboratory will be installed at RAAF Edinburgh. The third subsystem will be used in the systems-integration laboratory to test the new mission equipment, first in the simulator, then in the aircraft.
The contract was awarded by AWA Defence Industries. Two ISS will be delivered to AWA in September 1996 and the third in February 1997.
