German aviation giant DaimlerChrysler Aerospace (Dasa) announced yesterday at the show that chief executive designate Rainer Hertrich is to take over his new position from Manfred Bischoff when he retires on 15 March 2000.

Dasa spokesman Gregor von Kursell says this shuffle will enable Hertrich to be at the helm, representing Dasa's interests during the creation of European Aeronautic Defense and Space (EADS). EADS brings together Dasa with French company Aerospatiale Matra and the Spanish company CASA.

Bischoff will remain on the DaimlerChrysler board with responsibility for aerospace and all non-automobile businesses, replacing Jurgen Schrempp, president of DaimlerChrysler, who is retiring.
