China Southern Airlines has applied to start a new service between Guangzhou and Male, and another service between Beijing and Istanbul via Urumqi.
The carrier plans to operate between Guangzhou and Male twice a week from January 2010, says the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), which has to approve the application.
China Southern will operate Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route, says CAAC.
The airline has also applied to operate a Beijing-Urumqi-Istanbul service three times a week from March 2010.
